ALCATRAZ

I recently had the privilege of visiting this historic island. The smell of saltwater and sound of restless seagulls filled the air as we approached the large ominous rock. I chose to attend a night tour for the added immersion. As a result, as the night progressed, the pictures got increasingly darker - mirroring my growing sense of unease the longer I was there. As I reflect upon my visit, I have a very mixed bag of emotions. Appreciation for the architecture and twisted beauty of this miniature world, the rich history associated with it, my freedom, and the people that endured living on it. Fear of the paranormal and an unshakable melancholy that haunted me the moment I set foot on the island. And lastly, sadness for the individuals forever trapped on the island, despite what they may have done.

Should you every have the opportunity to visit, I suggest you do. It is a very humbling and unforgettable experience.

I like to think of this as a creative journal, a show & tell, a shamelessly unthemed digital scrapbook, but most of all, my happy place. My blog gives me opportunities to share some of my shoots in more depth with what I consider visual storytelling and a closer glimpse at my style. If anything, this is a great place to gauge if you think I'm a good fit for you or to find some inspiration for shoots. I am always open to working with you to make your photographic vision a reality. Happy exploring and thanks for stopping by!
